Feline chin acne is a fairly common skin condition in cats and can be a one-time occurrence occasional flare or chronic issue.

Fortunately feline acne is usually minor and easy to treat. Diagnosis of the condition will begin with a complete history and a physical exam. It is relatively uncommon compared to the dog and unlike dogs and humans feline acne is not predisposed to adolescence being seen in cats of all ages breeds and gender.

Cat acne occurs due to excessive keratin production at the hair follicles follicular keratinization and over-secretion from sebaceous glands. In many cases symptoms are mild and the disease does not require treatment. Most felines groom themselves regularly and effectively but when the chin area is neglected acne may have a better chance of developing.

Fat chin lesions typically consist of swelling oedema erythema and hair loss.
